National League

The National League of Professional Baseball Clubs, or simply the National League, is the older of two leagues constituting Major League Baseball in the United States and Canada (until 2005 when the Montreal Expos moved to Washington) and the world's oldest extant professional team sports league. Founded February 2, 1876 to replace the National Association of Professional Base Ball Players, it is sometimes called the Senior Circuit in contrast to the "junior circuit" of the American League, founded only in 1900-1901. The two league champions of 1903 arranged to meet in the World Series and, after the 1904 champions failed to do likewise, the two leagues have arranged for that annual culmination of the American baseball season, missing only in 1994. National League teams have won 42 and lost 60 of the 102 World Series played between these two leagues, 1903 to 2006. Full Article on Wikipedia

Tales from Liverpool

Paul Edwards meets a well-travelled Lancashire supporter

Player Profile - Sacha Hatteea

Sacha joined Dodgers in 2009 and quickly excelled as a top class batsman, excellent fielder and decent spin bowler. Realising that this high calibre skills set was unsustainable if he wanted to fit in, Sacha made some clever close season adjustments and returned in 2010 as a top class batsman, excellent fielder and gobshite slow bowler. The weather and availability frustrated his attempts to register a really big score but this is surely just a matter of time. Drinks lager and drives a sports car.Bowling 2010

Player Profile - Steve Bennett

From the same dynasty as Tony, Gordon, Alan and Phil. Steve played a handful of games in 2009 but featured more regularly in 2010. A decent seam bowler who delivered some good returns, Steve had few opportunities to show his prowess with the bat. Only a reasonable fielder but that still places him in the upper quartile of the Dodgers fielding competency matrix.Bowling 2010O M R W SR Avg Econ39 0 250 11 21.27 22.73 6.41Batting 2010

Player Profile - Paul Redmayne

It's not clear if Paul will play in 2011 as he may have returned to the frozen North East, but he was a very welcome addition to the side in 2010.Despite looking the part with the bat, it would be fair to say he promised more than he delivered. Had some fair returns with the ball though with his loopy and well flighted spin. An enthusiastic fielder and all round good egg who will be missed.Bowling 2010 O M R W SR Avg Econ31 1 248 12 15.50 20.67 8.00Batting 2010

Player Profile - David Lindsey

David is a welcome new recruit who showed himself to be a very competent and steady bat (a rich man's McB according to some). We hope to see more of David in 2011 and that he will provide valuable runs and solidity in the upper middle order.Batting 2010M I R NO Avg HS 50 100 Ct St
