BC - Ontario Bantam Matchup Highlights Day Three
It was supposed to be a battle of the Heavyweights. Team British Columbia and Team Ontario, representing the powerhouse lacrosse centres in Canada (along with the ILA and Alberta of late). And while the score would indicate that it was a close game, it really was not all that close until the third period. The final score was 6-3 in favour of the boys from British Columbia.
British Columbia dominated early and built up a comfortable lead of 5-1, prior to Ontario making it a little respectable in the third period.
The game was not without its share of penalties and physical play. It was apparent that both teams were trying to send a message to the other which resulted in a few extra trips to the penalty box on both sides. That coupled with a few penalties of the unsportsmanlike variety, led to a number of Power Plays in the final frame.
B.C. was led on the score sheet and on the floor by 2006 Peewee MVP Terrell Davis. This was my first chance to see him in two years, and the young man is what many would call a “floor general” for his team. Davis scored twice in the win with singles going to Cole Shafer, Jarryd Leung, Dalton Sward, and Jordan Cunningham. Steve Mayervich got the win for B.C in net.
Ontario goals were scored by Devin Shore, Cam Milligan, and Nicholas Ritchie. Brett Meraw took the loss in net for Ontario.
