I’m hoping to get some updates from Guelph for this.

Episode six, recorded shorlty after the Brooklin Redmen had their 2008 season ended by the Brampton Exclesiors at Iroquois Park Arena.  Wamp and I discuss the Mann Cup, he shows a few of his collectible programs from Mann Cups of years gone by.

Well it’s been 10 full days of lacrosse, starting with the Peewee Provincials back on August 1st. We had everything thrown in, including the Tykes, the Nationals and all of the Peewee, Bantam, Midget and Intermediate Girls teams.

I caught the Novice C2 Championship Final today between Kahanwake and Six Nations # 2.  I had a recommendation to have a look at one of Kahnawake’s young players as a potential winner for the Minor Star of the day.  So I figured the least I could do, was check out his game.

Well the Festival has one more day until the close with the Novice Provincials being decided tomorrow, but the National portion of the 10 day event came to close on Saturdayevening.  It all started off in the morning with Quebec winning “B” Bronze in both Peewee and Bantam, defeating Manitoba in both cases.  The Peewees won 6-5 while the Bantams won 6-3.

From the Festival, lots to talk about:

The Novices start up tomorrow and go through until Sunday.  Below is the schedule for the three days:

All right, plain and simple this girl can play lacrosse. I had spoken to a few folks around the arena prior to seeing Kelly play, and the comments coming form everyone were, she’s awesome, you cannot stop her, etc., etc. I mistakenly asked one of her team mates (before I met Kelly) if she was Kelly. The response? “Yeah, I wish”. The game I caught in the early afternoon, Mississauga defeated Clarington 6-2; Kelly scored six goals. So without further delay, our Minor Star of the day….Ms. Kelly Babstock.

It was supposed to be a battle of the Heavyweights.  Team British Columbia and Team Ontario, representing the powerhouse lacrosse centres in Canada (along with the ILA and Alberta of late).  And while the score would indicate that it was a close game, it really was not all that close until the third period.  The final score was 6-3 in favour of the boys from British Columbia.
