Golf
Golf is a sport in which individual players or teams hit a ball into a hole using various clubs, and also is one of the few ball games that does not use a fixed standard playing area. It is defined in the Rules of Golf as "playing a ball with a club from the teeing ground into the hole by a stroke or successive strokes in accordance with the Rules." It is said that the first ever game of golf may have been played at the Bruntsfield Links in 1456, claimed by the history of the Edinburgh Burgess Golfing Society, now The Royal Burgess Golfing Society. Golf, in essentially the form we know today, has been played on Scotland's Musselburgh Links since at least 1672, while variations of the game had been played throughout the British Isles and the Low Countries of northern Europe for several centuries before that. Conceived as a way of drawing attention to the Cup, the points system is instead more of a distraction as well as a headache. It is bad enough during the so-called "Regular Season". But when points are reset for the play-offs, the creme doesn't necessarily rise to the top. Instead, some of it gets flushed down the drain, while a little unfiltered rusty water gets into the Fed Ex Cup glass.

Canada and Finland on top at World Cup qualifier
Sep. 26, 2008Canada’s Wes Heffernan and Graham DeLaet join Mikko Korhonen and Roope Kakko of Finland at the top of the leaderboard after the second round foursomes at the Omega Mission Hills World Cup Qualifier in Poland.Finland, who led by one shot overnight, continued their run of good form shooting a four under par 68 in the challenging foursomes format to take them to 12 under par at Sierra Golf Club.This total was later matched when Canada carded an impressive 67, the best round of the day, to join the Finns at 12 under.
