Aussies Natalie Cook and Tamsin Barnett finish undefeated and top of their pool, defeating the number 3 ranked Brazillians 2-0 in their final pool match. They became the first team to progress to the round of 16.
… four-time Olympian and former gold medalist Natalie Cook of Australia scampered around the sand digging out balls rocketed down by third-ranked Ana Paula Connelly and Larissa Franca. “That felt like a medal match,” the 33-year-old said after the 23-21, 23-21 win. Winning their pool gives Cook and partner Tamsin Barnett a seeded place in the last 16.
