Tennis is a game played between either two players ("singles") or two teams of two players ("doubles"). Players use a stringed racquet to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over a net into the opponent's court. Tennis originated in England in the late 19th century and first spread through the English-speaking world, particularly among the upper classes. It is an Olympic sport that is played by all levels of society, all ages, and in most countries around the world. With the one exception being the adoption of the tiebreaker in the 1970s, its major rules have remained remarkably unchanged since the 1890s. Victoria Azarenka Collapses On Court at the US Open with Mild Concussion

The scorching heat in Flushing Meadows has hampered players over the past three days and today on the Grandstand court, temperatures were reported at 102 degrees at court level. Azarenka, who has a history of struggling with heat exhaustion, collapsed after a rally while trailing Gisela Dulko 1-5 in the opening set. She was wheeled off the court in a wheelchair and taken to a nearby hospital.
